Cnoc Ard

Isle of Skye | Self Catering

Cnoc Ard is a modern well equipped detached property situated in the village of Colbost in the North West of Skye. It is five miles from Dunvegan and positioned on a hillside, enjoying an uninterrupted view over Dunvegan Bay. The view is outstanding!

The property occupies a site previously owned by the Glasgow and West Coast Mission, who sent Missionaries to the islands following their institution in 1855. Later on, from the mid 20th Century, it was used as accommodation for nurses coming to tend the sick in remote communities throughout the highlands. Several years ago the original building was razed to the ground and in 2009 the property rebuilt as comfortable modern holiday accommodation. In 2015 an extension was built significantly increasing living space.

Skye is famous for its mountains and breathtaking scenery, and every year an increasing number of visitors are coming to the Island to walk, climb, fish or just to enjoy the relaxed pace of life.

Skye has a diverse range of art & craft shops as well as many museums to visit. For more active visitors there are water sports, fishing, golf, a sports centre with swimming pool as well as the widely recognised walking and climbing.

In the immediate locale there are tourist attractions such as Dunvegan castle, Neist Point, the Coral Beach at Claigan, Skye Silver Jewellery and many more.

If you choose to eat out, Skye has a superb choice of high quality restaurants and other eating places catering for all tastes and budgets. Many are within minutes of the house. The world renowned Three Chimney’s Restaurant is one mile away and there are many other Hotels and Inn’s a short drive away that serve up splendid food often in the most magnificent of locations. We have supplied links to some of these later in this site.
